Hello! My name is Coach Lichtenstein and this is my first year as part of the Groesbeck ISD family! I am joining the Groesbeck Middle School campus as the 8th grade US History teacher!
In my class we will be covering the history of our great nation from its very beginnings as disconnected and fragile colonies to 1877 and the efforts to rebuild ourselves after a devestating civil war. This covers many of the most exciting times in our country’s existence, and our class should offer a great opportunity to get to know how our nation, our state, and our community are interconnected and influenced by one another.
I am a graduate of Tarleton State University with a degree in Education 4-8 English Language Arts and Social Studies. I am also a veteran of the United States Army and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
My wife and I have been married for five years and have two hilarious dogs, a Bichon named Boston and an Irish Terrier named Maggie, who both run us ragged with their chaotic adventures and unique personalities. I am a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and enjoy reading, going to the movies, hiking, hunting, playing board games with my family, and might even play a video game from time to time.
I am also part of the coaching staff at GMS and work with Cross Country, Girl’s Basketball, and Track.
I hope my personal experiences and passion for history will bring a fresh opportunity for students in my classroom to learn more about the United States, and look forward to a great year! Go Goats!
